The Lingshan Temple Scenic Area is located on the mid-slopes of Yiwulu Mountain, bordering National Highway 102 to the east, connected to various scenic spots in Yixian County to the west, linked to the Da Guanyin Pavilion Scenic Area to the north, and adjacent to the Dalu Hua Scenic Area to the south as well as the Qingyan Temple Scenic Area. With an elevation of 678 meters and a total coverage area of 5,000 acres, this area features interconnected scenic spots and highly convenient transportation.

Lingshan has been regarded since ancient times as a sacred mountain revered and worshipped by Buddhists and devout believers. The “Ling” (灵) in Lingshan stands for “a place blessed with extraordinary people and spirit,” “a place filled with spiritual energy,” and “a place of spiritual herbs and immortal plants.” In Buddhist terms, Lingshan is the bodhimanda of Sakyamuni Buddha and the birthplace of Buddhism. Therefore, this divine mountain of Lingshan is imbued with celestial, divine, and Buddhist spirits, believed to grant all prayers.

Lingshan features competing peaks, cliffs reaching the sky, densely forested ridges, vast ancient pine groves, a variety of rare flowers and plants spread across the mountains, hundreds of species of birds, commonly seen wild animals, clear and pristine streams in valleys, and numerous ancient temples that exude mystery and tranquility.

Lingshan boasts a long history, with natural and cultural landscapes scattered throughout. Countless legends from ancient to modern times abound. It is home to three ancient temples, six unique peaks, six secluded valleys, six ancient caves, six wonders, and six major scenic spots, including a 700-year-old temple, an 800-year-old Liao Dynasty tomb, a 900-year-old Goguryeo city site, and a 1,000-year-old Tang Dynasty well. It encompasses 48 scenic sites, comprising 31 natural landscapes and 17 cultural ones. Countless beautiful legends and touching stories are passed down here.

Lingshan enjoys excellent ecology and lush vegetation. It is home to 300-year-old ginkgo trees, 400-year-old ancient pines, 500-year-old fragrant cypresses, and 600-year-old ancient locust trees. There is an abundance of wild fruits such as mountain grapes, walnuts, cherries, pears, jujubes, hazelnuts, top fruits, mulberries, wild vegetables, and yams — all natural green foods. Additionally, hundreds of species of wildlife, including roe deer, mountain rabbits, squirrels, wild boars, wolves, foxes, snakes, eagles, and pheasants, inhabit and thrive within Lingshan’s 5,000-acre forest.

Lingshan is characterized by its towering peaks, peculiar rocks, serene valleys, unique pines, ancient temples, and vibrant flowers. It naturally forms a majestic, vigorous, and rustic style. Throughout history, countless poets and scholars have praised and celebrated Lingshan. One poem describes its beauty as follows: “Sea mist and clear winds gather here, a naturally wondrous realm brings health and peace. The sacred land where ancient rulers cultivated virtue, where myriad grasses and peaks remain untouched by dust. Sun, moon, stars traverse the magical path, rivers and streams flow widely at the base. Spring brings fresh, fragrant scenery, and visiting this divine mountain brings boundless joy.”
