Longgang Tombs Cluster

The Longgang Tombs Cluster is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The Longgang Tombs Cluster is located in Longgangzi Village, Futun Township, Beizhen City, Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, People's Republic of China. It was inscribed on the seventh batch of the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units list in March 2013. A total of three tombs have been discovered in the cluster—two were found in 1970 and one in 1975. All three tombs have been severely looted. The two tombs discovered in 1970 yielded epitaphs, which identified them as the joint burial tomb of Yelü Zongzheng and his wife, and the tomb of Yelü Zongyun. Murals were found in the tomb discovered in 1975. The epitaphs from the two 1970 tombs mention the Liao Dynasty’s Xianling and Qianling Mausoleums, providing clues to their possible locations. Some researchers believe that the Liuli Temple in Longgangzi Village might be the site of the Xianling Mausoleum. Currently, the tomb of Yelü Zongzheng is open to the public, though its preservation condition is poor.
