The Dayangzhao Scenic Area of Mount Yiwulu National Forest Park was built in 1993, situated in the central eastern part of Mount Yiwulu, on the western outskirts of Beizhen City, with a total area of 479 hectares. The forest coverage rate reaches 90%, and the park features nearly 300 hectares of natural Korean pine forests, along with over 200 species of ornamental trees, remaining lush year-round and splendid in all seasons.

The natural landscape of the Dayangzhao Scenic Area is uniquely beautiful, characterized by dense forests, abundant trees, steep mountains, peculiar peaks, strange rocks, serene valleys, beautiful waters, and clear springs, offering distinct scenery in all four seasons. The region’s distinctive natural Korean pine forests are among the best in China, known as the “Forest Sea of Mount Yiwulu.” There are many ancient and famous trees, including the Dragon Claw Pine, Sister Pines, and Pitiful Pine. The most famous rock formations in the area include: Sails in the Forest Sea, White Elephant Viewing the Sea, Twin-Line Sky, Crescent Moon Cave, Standing Out from the Crowd, Heaven Above Heaven, Layered Peaks in Emerald Hues, the Eighteen Steep Steps of Mount Yiwulu, and Camel Peak—each ingeniously formed and strikingly lifelike. The water features include Qinglong Spring, Longyang Spring, East Sea Dragon Spring, Sacred Water Well, and Triple-Tiered Pool.

The scenic area also boasts rich cultural landscapes with long histories, high visibility, and broad social influence. Key sites include the renowned Taoist temple—Sanqing Temple—which consists of three architectural complexes (upper, middle, and lower), covering a construction area of 850 square meters and a site area of over 3,000 square meters. With a long history, it is famous both domestically and abroad. The precious cliff carving of the Chinese characters “Fu Shou” (Fortune and Longevity), handwritten by the famous Taoist master Chen Tuan, is of great value. The famous Taoist priest Zhang Sanfeng practiced Tai Chi and bone-washing exercises here in his youth, and a golden statue of the master is now enshrined in the “Hidden Immortal Palace” within the middle courtyard.

In recent years, the scenic area has also developed modern facilities such as a wildlife park, a natural museum, a streamside suspension bridge, an observation tower, pavilions, and corridors. Outside the scenic area’s main gate, the Dayangzhao Mountain Town has been developed to offer visitors a range of services including leisure, entertainment, dining, and accommodation.
