Martyr Yang Yun's Tomb

Martyr Yang Yun's Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Yingkou City.

Martyr Yang Yun's Tomb is located on the southern slope of Guanbao Mountain, north of Liudaoh River Village, Yangyun Town, Gaizhou City. It faces south and features an earthen and stone-built memorial park.

The tomb was originally located in the lawn of the square in front of the Hot Spring Sanatorium in Wenquan Village, Xiongyue Town. In 1970, the people of Yangyun Township, filled with profound proletarian sentiments toward Comrade Yang Yun, moved his remains to his second hometown—where he once fought and forged deep bonds of friendship with the local people.

The martyr’s tomb lies on the sunny hillside halfway up Guanbao Mountain. The burial site is square, with each side measuring 16 meters. Six steps lead up from the tomb to the mountain path, facilitating visits by mourners. The tomb consists of two parts: the burial chamber and the mound. The base is a 3-meter square, 0.32 meters high, constructed from granite slabs. The mound is circular, with a bottom diameter of 2.58 meters and a height of 0.4 meters, enclosed by granite stones and topped with yellow sandy soil.

When the martyr’s mother and younger brother came to pay their respects, they planted towering pines in front of the tomb to express their remembrance. A granite stele stands before the tomb, with “Tomb of Martyr Yang Yun” inscribed in intaglio on the front and “Biography of Martyr Comrade Yang Yun” on the back. Comrade Yang Yun believed that “as long as the mountains stand, the Communist Party will not fall.” He actively led the people in struggles against the enemy. Resourceful and brave in battle, he struck fear into the hearts of the enemy. Later, he was unfortunately captured due to betrayal. Facing the enemy with unyielding dignity, he was executed heroically at the young age of 21.

In 1984, the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government (Ying Zheng Fa [1984] No. 108) designated Martyr Yang Yun's Tomb as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit. The scope of protection and construction control zone announced by the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government (Ying Zheng Fa [1990] No. 38) is as follows: a 10-meter radius around the stele is the protected area, and a 50-meter extension beyond the protected area constitutes a Class I construction control zone.
