Extending from Pingtung to Chaozhou: Taiwan Railways adds 5 more stations to its EasyCard network starting October 15

Taiwan Railways continues to promote its EasyCard electronic ticketing service. With the opening of the double-track elevated electrified railway between Pingtung and Chaozhou and the adjustment of train schedules following the launch of the Chaozhou Depot, five stations—Guilai, Linluo, Xishi, Zhutian, and Chaozhou—will start accepting EasyCard payments starting October 15. Along with the activation of EasyCard services in central Taiwan and Yilan in late June, the service area has now expanded from Pingtung to Chaozhou, covering a total of 169 stations across the line, with an estimated 300,000 passengers benefiting daily.

Taiwan Railways stated that it will continue to install EasyCard validation equipment across the island-wide rail network. The goal is to achieve full EasyCard compatibility across the entire rail network by mid-2016, allowing passengers to use their EasyCards on all TRA trains nationwide and facilitating transfers to other public transport options, thereby realizing the vision of seamless island-wide travel with just one card.
