Singapore Airlines to offer non-stop flights to the U.S.! Singapore Airlines has announced that it has finalized an agreement with Airbus to become the first airline to operate the all-new A350 ultra-long-range aircraft model. The airline will also use this aircraft type to resume its non-stop services between Singapore and U.S. destinations.

Singapore Airlines’ President, Mr. Goh Choon Phong, stated that this aircraft model enables the airline to provide the fastest and most convenient flight services between North America and Southeast Asia, further strengthening Singapore’s position as a key global air hub.

Under this new agreement with Airbus, seven of the originally ordered 63 A350-900 aircraft have been upgraded to the A350-900ULR model, which has a range of up to 8,700 nautical miles. With an additional four newly ordered planes, the total number will increase to 67. The A350 offers superior operational efficiency on ultra-long-haul routes, and its more spacious and quieter cabin provides the perfect travel environment.

The A350-900ULR aircraft is expected to be delivered in 2018, at which point Singapore Airlines will use this model to reopen its world’s longest non-stop routes between Singapore and both Los Angeles and New York. The new aircraft will feature a new cabin product currently under development; the airline is also considering adding more non-stop services between Singapore and other U.S. destinations in the future.
