The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Google jointly hosted the “Taiwan Travel Unfiltered – Global Online Video Contest.” The one-year campaign received up to 150 video submissions from Europe, America, and various Asian countries. On the 22nd, the winning video was announced — a short film by Hong Kong’s Jiang Junxian, who used a selfie stick to document his one-month journey around Taiwan, earned widespread praise. Following that,a new activity will invite six global video creators to promote Taiwan’s tourism through their videos, showcasing the most uniquely “Taiwanese” charm to the world..

The power of video knows no borders. Travelers from all over the world have captured touching footage of their memories in Taiwan, allowing the world to see Taiwan. Liu Xilin, Deputy Director of the Tourism Bureau, stated thatthe internet has become one of the key platforms for promoting Taiwan tourism, and the bureau is actively investing resources to showcase the endless possibilities of traveling in Taiwan to the world.The series of submitted short videos have already accumulated over 1.37 million views globally online, and the Tourism Bureau also hopes to attract more travelers from Europe and America to visit Taiwan.

This year, using amateur video submissions to introduce Taiwan tourism,the video submission winner Jiang Junxian is from Hong Kong. He recalled his one-month filming experience in Taiwan, saying he felt the warmth and strong human touch there. Riding a scooter and filming moments with a selfie stick, the challenges of wind and rain as well as the ubiquity of convenience stores left a deep impression on him.

Next year, the Tourism Bureau will invite six international YouTube video creators with a combined subscriber base of over 10 million to explore Taiwan in depth.The first group to arrive will be an Australian coupleSimon & Martinawho have lived in South Korea for nearly 7 years and are known for presenting travel stories to global audiences through humorous and engaging YouTube videos, with over 850,000 subscribers. In a teaser video, they teased that they know Taiwan’s bubble tea and dumplings are famous, and warned everyone to watch out once they arrive — they might just eat and drink everything in sight.
