The “Green Line Literary Exhibition” in Tainan introduces you to 12 writers from Xinhua District

To coincide with the opening of the Damujiang Cultural Park, the Yang Kui Literature Memorial Hall has organizedthe “Green Line Literary Exhibition,”which runs from now until February 28, 2016, showcasing the works of 12 generations of writers from Tainan’s Xinhua District through dedicated display cabinets.

The Tainan City Government promotes the Green Line sightseeing bus, using Xinhua Station of Xingnan Bus as a hub to connect the birthplaces of Taiwanese literature and education. Curator Kang Wenrong noted that the 12 writers on the Green Line can be divided into four categories.
1. Classical Literature: Shen Guangwen, Wang Zexiu
2. Historical: Jiang Shusheng, Cai Jintang
3. Modern Literature: Yang Kui, Li Qinan, Zhang Chunrong, Yang Baoshan, Xu Zhengping
4. Other Fields: Liang Wanghui (social welfare), Lin Shichong (medical), Fan Yishun (photography)

Kang Wenrong pointed out that this exhibition also features, for the first time, handwritten poetry manuscripts by classical literary figure Wang Zexiu combined with vintage photographs. Among them, the poems depicting the five famous gardens of Fucheng’s history — Mengdie Garden, Beiyuan, Wuyuan, Guiyuan, and Guyuan — are particularly eye-catching.

Zheng Daoli, Chief of Xinhua District, said that over the past decade, the Xinhua area has focused on the Yang Kui Literature Memorial Hall along the spatial axis, securing six municipal heritage sites or historic buildings — Zhong Family’s Old House, the former Xinhua Police Substation, the Martial Arts Hall, the Shrine Hall, the Community Hall, and the Tiger Head Pond — and along the temporal axis, it has completed dedicated display cabinets for 12 literary masters. This not only highlights the historical elegance of Damujiang but also realizes Yang Kui’s late-life dream of establishing a cultural village for the masses.
