Craftsmanship from Hokkaido, Japan – A dreamy flavor where yuzu meets curry

Rice House Kokeshi is a Japanese-style family eatery tucked away in the alleyways of Dihua Street. The owner is from Hokkaido, Japan, so naturally, you’ll find the most authentic Japanese cuisine here. Back in March this year, when I dined here with Meiji, the curry fried rice really won over Old K, and the grilled scallops and salmon N<也让美姬念念不忘呀！

So we’re back again!!!

But the timing wasn’t the greatest this time – quite a few dishes weren’t available.

Though it wasn’t really bad luck either, because just as we were about to order, another couple walked in, and there were only three bowls of rice left. We ordered the fruit curry N<跟猪肉咖喱N<之后，那对夫妻就没得点了，而且在门口挂上今日餐点已售完的牌子，所以我们是今天最后二位客人，所以我们还是很幸运的呀XD

and the pork curry N<(100元)

This is Old K’s pork curry N<，以一碗一百元来说，看起来就便宜呀！因为咖喱看起来相当的浓郁！而且猪肉满大块的也不少！

The curry was indeed quite rich, with a hint of spiciness, slightly on the salty side, but it paired perfectly with the plain rice, which was also deliciously cooked.

The pork was tender yet not tough to chew, and every piece was consistently good – none were dry or lacking in flavor. It tasted even better than many curry rice meals that cost two hundred bucks a plate that Old K has had before.

After taking a few bites of the curry, it was Meiji’s turn with the fruit curry N<也来了，另外附的一小碗咖喱是今天最后的咖喱了，老板娘也送给我们吃了，而且里面还有一些肉块哦！老板娘人真好呀！

Fruit curry N<(120元)

This bowl of fruit curry is just too unique – the fruit used is actually yuzu, XD

And they gave quite a lot of yuzu too. The combination of curry and yuzu turned out surprisingly well. What would normally be a savory-sweet curry gained an additional tangy-sweet flavor from the yuzu. The yuzu is very juicy, adding another layer of liquid texture, making the overall mouthfeel incredibly rich. Old K really liked this – it’s super unique.

Old K’s Tip: If you’re visiting Dadaocheng, Old K highly recommends dining here. The curry fried rice and fruit curry N<都很好吃，干贝鲑鱼也都很赞！重点是很平价而且吃的饱，来就是尽量点吃饱一点，反正吃饱还能去大稻埕码头里面骑单车运动看风景XD　有来真的千万别错过哦！PS.不能预约所以要吃早点来哦！
