4. Maccha House
Opened in East Taipei at the end of March this year, Maccha House stands out from typical matcha shops by also serving Japanese dishes such as ramen and rice bowls. This allows visitors to enjoy a warm meal before indulging in matcha. As for the star of the show—matcha—the shop’s most distinctive offering is its kuzuko (arrowroot starch) dessert, which is hand-pulled using small wooden mallets. Topped with the complimentary kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup), the bitterness of the matcha is balanced by the sweetness of the syrup, resulting in a smooth and unique matcha experience.

5. 108 Matcha Lounge
Hailing from Hokkaido, Japan, 108 Matcha Lounge uses Kyoto Uji matcha as the base for its ingredients, giving it a rich aroma. The ice cream is made with Hokkaido fresh milk and blended with matcha, offering a creamy and tea-flavored taste that’s very smooth. It can also be ordered as a set with warabi mochi and shiratama. The shop’s signature product is the soufflé cheesecake—commonly known as “shufulai.” With a cheese cake exterior, a matcha and cream cheese filling, and a layer of cheese on top, the main cheesecake part is incredibly soft. The cheese flavor balances the slight bitterness of the matcha, creating a refreshing taste. The final touch of cheese flavor adds sweetness without being greasy, making it very pleasant.
