Last updated 2026-09-25 — Banjia Café has good reviews for its desserts among the many cafés in the art district, so we made a special trip for their Dutch baby cast-iron skillet pancake. Banjia Café has good reviews for its desserts among the many cafés in the art district, so we made a special trip for their Dutch baby cast-iron skillet pancake. Since the pancake isn’t served until 2 PM, we ended up having brunch and then waiting all the way till afternoon tea ! It was so much fun. The café has limited seating, about 20 spots, so it’s recommended to call ahead to check if it’s full. Aside from the super popular red wine poached pear pancake, we also found Banjia’s brunch to be quite delicious. Hu’er said she’d come back specially for breakfast next time !

▲ Spanish omelette NT110

Unlike the Taiwanese flour-based omelette, this one uses potatoes as the main base. Potatoes are stir-fried with bacon and onions, then mixed with eggs and slowly cooked over low heat. The texture is denser, allowing you to taste the original flavor of each ingredient.

You can dip it in tomato and mustard sauce ~ refreshing without being greasy.

▲ Pork belly sandwich NT140

Three layers of toast are stuffed with generous amounts of onions and a mix of {?meats?}, creating a rich and flavorful taste that’s deeply satisfying. The bread holds up well and doesn’t get soggy. There's also a layer of cheese that adds extra yumminess. The key is grilling it just right—golden brown on the outside but still soft inside. The pork belly is tender and flavorful, and the whole sandwich bursts with taste. Seriously, no cheating here—when you open the sandwich, it’s fully loaded. You won’t find just a measly half-filled gourmet sandwich that leaves you shedding two tears of disappointment ... Banjia’s pork belly sandwich is honest and hearty, with every bite packed with filling.

Sometimes you get those sandwiches that look impressive from the side, but when you open them up, it’s all just fancy packaging ! The fillings don’t even cover half the sandwich, and you’re left crying two silent tears... Banjia’s pork belly sandwich gives you exactly what you see—it’s full and satisfying.

▲ Banjia’s Dutch Baby with seasonal ingredients / pears NT150

Dutch baby serving hours: 14:00 – 17:00

After spending two hours on brunch, afternoon tea time finally arrived. We ordered afternoon tea right when we placed our earlier order, worried the owner might think we were total foodies ... Honestly, we’ve been trying to be good lately for the sake of our waistlines.

Ice cream is sprinkled with sugar-glazed almond slices and meringue. Scoop a little onto the pancake or wait for the ice cream to melt slightly and dip it in—also delicious.

Red wine poached pears—initially we thought the whole pear would be super soft, but it was actually so firm we couldn’t cut it with a knife ... turns out we hit the core XDD. Cooked with cloves, cinnamon, lemon, and sweet orange peel ~ the pears turned out tender yet slightly chewy. The fluffy pancake pairs perfectly with the poached pears. It’s definitely a sweet tooth’s dream come true. Hu’er took one bite and gave up—this kid who started the morning with thick noodle soup and rice noodles just doesn’t get our love for sweets. Our passion for desserts is stronger than gold !!

▲ Good Morning Earl Grey NT160

Made with Indian and Ceylon black tea blended with bergamot essential oil. This Earl Grey tea really suits only certain people and brands. Too much bergamot can make the aroma overwhelming and give you a headache, but this one gets the balance just right. If you want a touch of sweetness, adding the cute little sugar cubes works perfectly.

▲ The owner was roasting beans nearby, so focused ! XDDD

▲ Baileys Latte with about 17% alcohol content NT150

Sally wouldn’t miss any drink with alcohol. This one is perfect for girls who don’t usually drink but want to enjoy a little tipple. The coffee has a subtle hint of creamy liquor aroma, and the smooth feel is very comforting.

▲ Scones, three pieces per order, served with two types of homemade jam NT120

Couldn’t resist ordering a set of three flavors from the display shelf by the seat: original, honey, and orange. The texture is dense, and the jam adds just the right amount of moisture.

▲ Sitting at the bar counter lets you chat with the owner, but unfortunately all the seats were taken that day ~~~ T..T

▲ The menu may be simple, but it’s important that every item is executed perfectly.

Hu Li especially loves restaurants with concise menus.

▲ The cozy space inside is small but comfortable, and even savory food lovers will be satisfied here.

The signature cast-iron skillet pancake lives up to expectations, and it’s available in limited quantities daily, so come early ~ Perfect for couples on a date or girls looking to treat themselves to sweets. Banjia Café is a great choice ! Recommended for those who love cast-iron skillet pancakes and want a sweet dessert date.
