As 2015 draws to a close, several museums and scenic spots across Taiwan have announced temporary closures for maintenance in order to present an even better appearance in the coming year. Below is a roundup of 6 scenic spots currently closed, for the reference of travelers planning upcoming trips.

New Taipei City | Chu Wei Art Museum
Closed: From now until February 7, 2016
The Chu Wei Art Museum will carry out artwork restoration and environmental renovations during this period. The entire museum area will be closed to visitors and is scheduled to reopen on February 8, 2016, the first day of the Lunar New Year.

Tainan Qigu | Taiwan Salt Museum
Closed: From now ~
The Taiwan Salt Museum has ceased operations due to on-site operational adjustments. The reopening date is undecided.

Tainan | Chimei Museum
Closed: November 23 to 30
Since its official opening, the Chimei Museum has nearly reached its full daily visitor capacity every day, with total visitor numbers approaching 1.5 million. To provide higher-quality services and a better visiting experience, the museum will suspend public access from the 23rd for annual maintenance and renovations.

Taitung | Chenggong Coastal Park
Closed area: From now until May 20, 2016
The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration announced that Chenggong Coastal Park will undergo improvement works and will remain closed until next May.

Taitung | Shiyusan Rest Area
Closed area: From now until March 31, 2016
The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration announced that the Shiyusan Rest Area will undergo comprehensive improvements and repairs on its northern wooden boardwalk. During construction, the northern wooden boardwalk, restrooms, and parking lot of the Shiyusan Recreational Area will be temporarily closed.

Taitung | Lake Jiaming National Trail
Closed area: From January 5 to March 31, 2016
The Taitung Forest District Office announced that Lake Jiaming National Trail, known as the “Angel’s Tears,” will enter its “mountain closure period” starting January 5, 2016, with the entire trail closed and mountain huts suspending reservations until the end of March.
