The domestic travel subsidy “buy one get one free” amusement park coupons launched by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Tourism Bureau were all claimed within minutes this morning at 8 AM. Many people who failed to get the coupons were so upset that they called the Tourism Bureau to complain.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications launched a domestic travel subsidy. At 10 AM on the 20th, the public was allowed to claim the discounts. Unexpectedly, the system crashed, and the website became unstable and hard to access from 10 AM onward, angering many netizens hoping to grab hotel or theme park deals. It wasn’t until around 6 PM that the system gradually recovered. Vice Minister of Transportation and Communications Fan Chih-ku announced in the evening that the number of housing subsidy vouchers would be doubled to 230,000 sets, and the number of amusement park coupons would be increased to 80,000 sets.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications stated that the additional 40,000 sets of codes added during the late-night allocation saw many people start grabbing them early in the morning. Among these, the 40,000 non-specific amusement park coupons were all claimed shortly after midnight on the 21st, and the remaining 40,000 allocated to 22 theme parks were also claimed by 8 AM. Considering budget constraints and the willingness of amusement park operators to cooperate, there are currently no plans to issue more.
