Zhong Mama Snacks is located on Pinglin Old Street and also runs Dingchen Tea House. The owner is Zhong Mama herself. If you want to try goat’s teat dishes, this is the place to go. Zhong Mama has turned goat’s teats into her signature goat’s teat chicken soup and goat’s teat jelly. Originally created to strengthen her children’s bones and muscles, they have since become her famous home-style dishes.
Goat’s Teat Jelly
The goat’s teat jelly is Zhong Mama’s creative creation. She simmers the goat’s teats into a broth, adds a bit of sugar for flavor, along with an appropriate amount of goji berries, resulting in the jelly. It’s refreshingly cool to eat in hot weather.

Goat’s Teat Chicken Soup
This soup is actually a health-focused chicken soup based on mountain chicken. It’s simmered with plenty of goji berries and goat’s teats among other medicinal ingredients. The soup is not greasy, yet you can still taste the smooth richness of the chicken fat. The mountain chicken pieces are large, with tender and chewy meat. The soup isn’t overly salty, offering an authentic chicken flavor. Zhong Mama says many customers laugh when they see the goat’s teats, thinking they’re literally a goat’s nipples, and it often takes some explaining before they realize it’s actually a traditional Chinese medicinal ingredient — creating quite a few laughs.

Don’t know what a goat’s teat is? No problem — there’s one planted right by the entrance (top left in the photo) serving as a model. If you get the chance, stop by the shop to see what a goat’s teat looks like. Zhong Mama says that in reality, goat’s teats come in little clusters (top right in the photo), and processing them isn’t very easy. They need to be picked, washed, dried, and otherwise preserved. Most people would find the process of handling a bunch of goat’s teat branches and preparing the fruit quite exhausting.
If you get the chance to visit Pinglin Old Street and try Zhong Mama’s cooking, the snacks are delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The “taste of mom’s cooking” is absolutely unforgettable.
