Want to visit the Xinshi Flower Sea without traffic jams? Here are four transportation methods to help you out.

Want to see the flower sea without dealing with traffic? The Xinshi Flower Sea, opening on November 7, has seen the Taichung City Government plan four free shuttle bus routes and 15 public bus lines to the venue, along with traffic control measures. Both shuttles and buses will travel on dedicated lanes with priority passage. Wang Yichuan, Director of the Taichung City Transportation Bureau, noted:County Road 129 from Dakeng to Xinshi is under construction, so the fastest route up the mountain still takes 90 minutes, but taking the shuttle from Dongshi only takes 40 minutes. He urged the public to “opt for shuttles instead of driving.”。

1. Free Shuttle Buses
Wang Yichuan stated that the city government has planned four free shuttle bus routes for holidays: Dongshi, Fengyuan, Taiyuan, and Sakura Tree Lane. These routes are not affected by traffic controls, travel on dedicated lanes, and have priority passage. Buses run from 8 AM to 4 PM on weekends, with a frequency of about every 20 minutes, or whenever they fill up. The Taiyuan line also offers free shuttles on weekdays (Monday to Friday), running approximately every 30 minutes.

2. Take Public Buses
There are also 15 public bus routes to Xinshi, including Lines 31, 91, 263, 264, 265, 266, 270, 271, 272, 273, 275, 276, 277, 278, and 279. Not only do these offer a 10-kilometer free ride benefit, but they also travel on dedicated lanes just like the shuttle buses, unaffected by traffic control and with priority passage.

3. Take the Train
Train travelers can go to Fengyuan Railway Station and transfer to the “Fengyuan Line” shuttle bus, which passes by Yangming Municipal Government Building and Xinshi High School before reaching the venue. The “Taiyuan Line” starts at Taiyuan Parking Lot, which offers 666 parking spaces, and goes through Zhongxingling before arriving at the venue. The “Sakura Tree Lane Line” departs from Environmental Protection Park, passing by Xinshi District Office and Xinshi High School before reaching the venue.

4. Drive Yourself
Wang Yichuan said that traffic control will be in place from 9 AM to 4 PM on weekends. The first wave of control will take place on the section of Dongshan Road along Dakeng, where the Liankeng Lane will narrow—shuttles will have priority passage. The second wave will occur at the Minxing Lane intersection, where only shuttles and large buses will be allowed on Dongshan Road. Other vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and bicycles, must use Minxing Lane, which is only about 6 meters wide.

For those driving from northern Miaoli, avoid exiting at Taichung Interchange. Instead, use Sanyi Interchange, then take County Road 140. Plan a visit to Sanyi Old Street in the morning and head to Xinshi for flowers in the afternoon to avoid peak crowds around noon.

If you’re driving yourself, consider going on a weekday and arrive before 9 AM to avoid traffic and keep your flower-viewing experience pleasant. The flower sea venue will have 2,500 parking spaces, and once full, extended traffic control will be enforced, prohibiting vehicles from entering. Schools organizing outdoor educational visits are encouraged to schedule trips on weekdays from Monday to Friday to avoid weekend crowds and facilitate time-based crowd dispersion.
