Escape the cold front and warm up in Guam！ The Christmas Village lights up on the 27th

While temperatures have dropped sharply across Taiwan, Guam remains delightfully warm！ As Christmas draws near, the Christmas Village, located at Governor Jose Flores Memorial Beach Park (Ipan Beach), officially lit up on the 27th. From Christmas to New Year, the village will be illuminated from 6 p.m. to midnight, continuing until January 8 of the year 105 (2016).

Each year, hotels around Tumon Bay and across the island decorate their lobbies and grounds with festive lights — a beloved holiday tradition for many local families. The Guam Visitors Bureau’s Christmas Village in the Tumon area is themed differently each year, featuring fun character costumes for visitors to take memorable photos. Past highlights have included the Obamas, a surfing Santa Claus, and traditional Chamorro-style carabao carts.

In addition to the Christmas Village, Guam’s Shopping Festival — dubbed “Black Friday shopping night” by Western countries — runs from November 1 to February 15 of the year 105 (2016), with major stores and retailers offering steep discounts during this period. Many locals even take time off work to queue overnight for bargains.
