Where do you think of when you hear "mine"? Most people probably first think of Jinguashi in Jiufen, but did you know that Taipei City actually has an ancient mine as well? After undergoing landscape renovation, it has taken on a new look while still retaining the atmosphere of a mining site—that’s the “Hexing Mine” !

Walking along the tracks into the Hexing Mine, you can see murals depicting the process from mining to processing, giving you a basic understanding of mining. Then, climb the spiral sky ladder, where someone is waiting for you—Hexing Mine’s mascot, Miner Xiaojia. Once you reach this point, the mine entrance is right ahead. Step inside to feel the vintage charm. In addition to preserving the original mining ambiance, modern informational displays and simulated scenes of miners digging coal make you feel like you’ve stepped into a time tunnel, immersing yourself in the life of the miners.

The surrounding mountain forests are also a major highlight. Using local materials and eco-engineering methods, flood and disaster prevention facilities have been built. These not only reduce the burden on existing resources but also achieve effective resource utilization, serving as a model for resource regeneration. Along the path, you can also explore famous trails such as Thumb Mountain and Elephant Mountain.
