Don’t let KITTY have all the spotlight — the super-cute Pompompurin-themed café is also making its debut

Pompompurin, which claimed the top spot in Japan’s 2015 Sanrio Character Ranking, is currently extremely popular. In fact, Pompompurin was created as early as 1996 and can be seen on many stationery items, boasting a large number of dedicated fans. However, the opening of three themed POMPOMPURIN Cafes (in Tokyo, Osaka, and Yokohama) in just one year in Japan highlights its huge fan following. Now, the Pompompurin Café is coming to Taiwan, with its first branch set to open on the 5th floor of ATT 4 FUN in Taipei’s Xinyi District.

With its round, yellow, and chubby appearance, Pompompurin is incredibly adorable. The themed cafés in Japan also adopt a warm yellow color scheme as the main design element. Whether it’s the decor, wall paintings, or food items, you’ll find the adorable, plump Pompompurin everywhere. At the Pompompurin-themed café, fans are most excited about the character-shaped menu items. There’s the classic Okinawa taco rice, as well as store-exclusive dishes — such as the Chinese dim sum set exclusive to the Yokohama branch, and the Japanese-style fried noodles pizza exclusive to the Osaka Umeda branch.
