Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve Event Kicks Off – Show Lo and Bii Attend and Invite Hugs

The Taipei City Government today (December 2) announced that this year’s countdown series of events has officially begun.This year’s spectacular evening performances will feature A-Mei as the finale act.The event also includes a pre-event “Hug” collection campaign, shopping district promotions, folk music concerts, and Christmas activities at the Taipei Expo Park. Artists Show Lo and Bii (Bii Yuxin) also jointly launched the city’s opening ceremony.

This year, activities will stretch from Xinyi District’s Xiangti Boulevard commercial area westward to Dadaocheng, hosting a series of warm-up events before the “Eternal Glamour: Taipei Gramophone” New Year’s Eve concert, along with three concerts. In addition, a variety of themed installations will be placed around the Xinyi commercial district, including Hankyu’s “Share the Love Christmas Town,” the lightsaber tunnel themed on the Star Wars Episode VII “Force Awakens,” and the dating app-themed Iceberg Christmas Tree. The Taipei Expo Park will also hold the “Christmas Lights, Taipei Happy City” Christmas series of events from December 15 to 27, featuring a wishing wall, storytelling by “Christmas Sisters,” concerts, and more.

Director of Taipei City Tourism BureauYen Yu-yanstated that the “Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve” countdown concert, officially named since 2004, has established Taipei’s signature countdown brand. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, and the lineup of performers is particularly impressive. As a pre-event to the countdown, the “Hug Collection Campaign” also invitedShow LoandBiito serve as campaign ambassadors. This initiative aims to spread the warmth of happiness through hugs, and via the power of online communities, share those hugs while spreading the love of Taipei.
