No need to travel far for winter flower viewing！ The second-crop fallow flower fields in New Taipei City are blooming one after another. Locations such as the Citizen’s Farm in Yingge District, around Zhongzheng 3rd Road, and Erjia Road have seen floral landscapes since late November. The beautiful sea of flowers has attracted many visitors to Yingge for sightseeing or couples to take wedding photos. Director of the Agriculture Bureau, Li Wen, stated that short-term flowering plants such as large dahlias, yellow dahlias, and cosmos are planted in the second-crop fallow fields.

In the past, many areas in New Taipei City had paddy fields for rice cultivation. With urban development and reduced food demand, the city's rice planting area has shrunk to just 116 hectares, with Yingge District having the largest area, about 40 hectares planted in the first crop. To prevent farmland from lying idle, the Agriculture Bureau encourages farmers to plant about 30 hectares of ornamental crops in the second crop. In addition to receiving fallow subsidies, this also helps beautify the farmland surroundings.

1. Take the free Yingge District Bus Line 2 (Erqiao Jiande Line)
Get off at Zhongzheng 3rd Road, Lane 318, Lane 398-1, or Qiucao Lane (currently a colorful sea of flowers is in full bloom)
Get off at the Highway Bridge Station (flowers are expected to bloom gradually from mid-to-late December)

2. Citizen’s Farm:
Take the highway to the Sanxia-Yingge Interchange → head toward Yingge, make a U-turn at the first intersection after crossing the Sanying Bridge → go straight along the bridge underpass to the end, then turn right onto Huannan Road → continue straight until near the highway where you’ll see a tin house marked “Citizen’s Farm” — turn right there
