Overlooking 3 Scenic Spots of Alishan: Mt. Ogasawara, Zhushan, and Zhuping Station All in Sight

Most visitors to Alishan take a "carpet-style" sightseeing approach and rarely get the chance to view the entire mountain from a high-altitude perspective. On the 2nd, Alishan National Forest Recreation Area announced that three scenic spots—Mt. Ogasawara, Zhuping Station, and Zhushan Station—can be admired from the air, each captured from unique vantage points.

Mt. Ogasawara, Zhushan Station, and Zhuping Station are must-visit spots in Alishan. As winter approaches, the maple leaves gradually turn red, while the bright yellow ginkgo trees bloom locally. Winter is also an ideal time for cloud sea viewing, making Alishan a perennially popular destination.

The Ogasawara Mountain Observation Deck sits at an altitude of about 2,488 meters, approximately 500 meters from the Zhushan Observation Deck. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom beautifully here, and visitors can see Taiwan’s highest peak—Yushan. After its completion in 2005, the Forestry Bureau did not heavily promote it, and it remained a hidden gem for many years until it was discovered by more people and gained popularity in recent years.

Zhushan Station is located in Alishan Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. It is a railway station on the Zhushan Line of the Alishan Forest Railway managed by the Forestry Bureau, situated at an altitude of 2,451 meters, making it the highest railway station in Taiwan. Zhuping Station was once renovated into a train hotel, and after its reconstruction, the station has been revitalized with a large-scale mixed stone architectural style.
