Opened in November, Taitung’s “Jialan Skywalk” temporarily closed due to landslides

The “Jialan Skywalk” in Jinfeng Township, Taitung, built along the mountainside, was only just opened in November. It not only makes travel more convenient for local residents but also connects to the village’s cycling loop, becoming a new local attraction. However, occasional landslides from the mountainside have prompted the Jinfeng Township Office to suspend access from December 10, 2015 to January 9, 2016, for public safety.

The Jinfeng Township Office explained that the skywalk is part of the Jialan cycling loop, located on the right side of the Taimali River within the Laowan Mountain Range, spanning land plots 70 and 164 in the Jinwan section of the Laowan area. The walkway is 203 meters long and 2.8 meters wide, and visitors must walk while leading their bikes. Wildlife is still active above the mountainside, occasionally causing landslides. To ensure visitor safety, the area will be closed for reinforcement work to prevent falling rocks. The walkway is expected to reopen on January 10, 2016.

From Provincial Highway 64 toward Jialan Village, head to the Larenleng Tribe, then via the skywalk to the Laowan Tribe and Jialan Permanent Residences, forming a circular route
