Myanmar International Airlines and Myanmar National Airlines to launch Taipei–Yangon flights on January 26 next year

New airlines will launch Taipei services in 2016, with Myanmar International Airlines and Myanmar National Airlines set to begin operations in Taiwan,Myanmar International Airlines will be represented by Golden Far East Travel Agency, while Myanmar National Airlines will be handled by Das Travel Agency. It is rumored that the first flight is scheduled for January 26, but the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) has responded that it has not yet received applications from the two airlines.
It is understood,that Myanmar International Airlines currently plans to operate four weekly flights between Yangon and Taipei, using Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft. Meanwhile,Myanmar National Airlines plans to operate three weekly flights between Yangon and Taipei, expected to use B373 aircraft.
Li Dong-yang, section chief of the Air Transport Division at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Civil Aeronautics Administration, stated that for airlines to launch services in Taiwan, the application process requires first setting up a branch office and a general agent. Currently, Myanmar International Airlines’ general agent is Golden Far East Travel Agency, and Myanmar National Airlines is represented by Das Travel Agency. The next steps, including route certificates, flight schedules, and fares, have not yet been submitted by either airline, so the exact launch date remains unclear.
Currently, the number of Taiwanese travelers visiting Myanmar is not high, with most being business travelers. Once the two airlines begin operations, traveling to Myanmar for business trips, tourism, or family visits will become more convenient.
