Come to Daxue Mountain to watch the shooting stars streak across the sky!* BetweenDecember 4th and December 17theach year, the Gemini meteor shower occurs. This year,the peak is expected on December 15th,making it one of the most spectacular stargazing events of the year. To celebrate the Gemini meteor shower, the Dongshi Forest District Office will host nighttime stargazing sessions on the evenings of December 12th and 13th, inviting teachers Wu Jiande and Lin Qisheng from the Taichung Astronomy Society to guide participants. Accommodation guests can join for free. Everyone is welcome to visit Daxue Mountain to witness the beauty of the meteor shower.

How many meteors can you see during the Gemini shower? Lin Qisheng from the Taichung Astronomy Society says: “If someone stands in the parking lot of Daxue Mountain Lodge starting at 8 p.m. on the evening of the 13th and counts meteors until dawn, they could see up to around 1,000 meteors — at least more than 500. And in the early hours of the 14th, there’s a chance to see about 100 meteors per hour — almost two per minute!”
On the evening of December 12th, Teacher Wu Jiande will introduce knowledge about the winter night sky and the Gemini meteor shower. On December 13th, Teacher Lin Qisheng will first explain basic facts about meteors, then lead visitors in observing the Gemini meteor shower from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., creating a night of wishing upon a shooting star.
