518,000 Christmas lights replace Universal Studios Japan — Australia unveils world’s most illuminated Christmas tree

The title of the world’s most decorated Christmas tree has a new holder！ According to foreign media reports, the massive Christmas tree erected in the heart of Canberra, Australia’s capital city, was adorned this year with 518,838 fairy lights, breaking the five-year record previously held by Universal Studios Japan and earning Guinness World Records certification as the “World’s Most Decorated Christmas Tree.”

Standing at 22 meters tall, the tree was jointly created starting last December by local volunteers along with electrical engineers, carpenters, architects, and others, invited by local lawyer and businessman David Richards. David Richards stated that he hopes the project will help raise funds for organizations such as the Canberra Sudden Infant Death Syndrome charity, marking his third time achieving a Guinness World Record with a light-decorated display.
