Winter is here, and many of you are probably looking to nourish your body. But maybe you find making chicken soup too troublesome, or you just can’t stand the strong taste of traditional Chinese herbs. Today, I’m sharing a warming chicken soup recipe that anyone who knows how to turn on a stove can make—and it turns out aromatic and delicious. Sounds too good to be true? Let’s check out this simple and tasty chicken soup together~
-
Ingredients:
Chicken (Silkie chicken) 1.5kg (1 whole)
Chinese yam 40g (about one liang or more)
Red dates 4–5 liang
Goji berries half a bowl
Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui) 2–3 slices (optional)
Ginseng rootlets a small amount (optional)
Water 1800ml
Salt a little
-
Method:
1. First, wash the chicken. Then put all ingredients except salt into a pot, and bring to a boil over medium heat.

2. Then reduce to low heat and continue simmering for 60 minutes. Add salt to season before serving. Isn’t it super simple?(Remember to skim off any foam or residue during cooking.)

-
Tips
1. Be sure to remove all foam or residue from the chicken soup—this ensures it tastes great.
2. The herbal ingredients can be adjusted or substituted based on your preference.
3. The taste of angelica sinensis and ginseng rootlets may be too strong for some, so feel free to skip or reduce them as you like.

This simple chicken soup not only nourishes the body but also has a lovely sweetness from the red dates—you definitely shouldn’t miss it~
