Transparent "Chinpiashi Skywalk" on Cliffs to Open Before Summer 2016

Located along the cliffs of Chinpiashi Cliff in Fengbin Township, Hualien,the "Chinpiashi Skywalk"has sections made of reinforced glass, offering a thrilling sensation of walking just above the cliff. This has attracted many visitors hoping to see it first, but the skywalk is not yet officially open.Fengbin Township Office stated that trial operations are expected to start by summer 2016, with an admission fee of NT$40.

The Chinpiashi Skywalk features a 150-meter transparent walkway constructed with H-shaped steel and reinforced glass. Walking on the transparent path allows visitors to enjoy the thrill of standing atop a cliff while taking in breathtaking ocean views. However, due to funding issues, surrounding infrastructure remains incomplete, delaying its opening.

Although the Chinpiashi Skywalk is not set to open until next year, Fengbin Township Council has already established ticket pricing: NT$40 for general admission, NT$100 for tour bus parking, and NT$20 for private car parking, aiming to boost local revenue.

The New Ji Tunnel, which cuts through the cliffs, is known as Chinpiashi Cliff. Due to its perilous location on jagged, narrow cliffs, traversing it is extremely challenging. Legend has it that a Yami woman carrying her child across the cliff, overwhelmed by tension, only realized after safely crossing that her child was missing. The name reflects the treacherous terrain, so dangerous that even familial bonds could not ensure mutual support.
