In the cool autumn, why not go cycling and slow down to rediscover Taipei amid the beautiful scenery? 《ETNEWS News Cloud》 has compiled 5 cycling paths in Taipei and New Taipei, including nostalgic trails from the Japanese colonial era, riverside towns, and vibrant flower fields. Take advantage of the arrival of winter and embark on a relaxing and leisurely cycling trip.
Old Caoling Tunnel
The Old Caoling Tunnel is 2,167 meters long and was originally a railway during the Japanese colonial period. It reopened in 2009 as the first railway tunnel in northern Taiwan converted into a cycling path. Since the Old Caoling Tunnel is located next to the New Caoling Tunnel, you can even hear the rumbling sound of trains passing by. The tunnel also connects to the Longmen to Yenliao and Fulong coastal cycling paths, allowing you to enjoy the leisurely vibe of the Fulong seaside resort town.

Golden Waterfront / Bali Left Bank Cycling Path
Located in Tamsui District, New Taipei City, the Golden Waterfront Cycling Path starts at Guanshan Park under the Guandu Bridge (0Km) and heads north, connecting to Zhulian Station, Hongshulin Station, and Tamsui Station of the MRT. It runs alongside the Tamsui riverside shopping street and Fisherman’s Wharf all the way to Tamsui Haiwei Zi, with a total length of 16.7Km. Along the way, you can not only enjoy the scenery of the Tamsui town but also take in the beautiful views of the Tamsui River, making for a very pleasant experience.

North Coast Cycling Path
The North Coast Cycling Path spans four townships along the north coast and connects various coastal routes. The famous “Fengzhi Gate Cycling Path” was a filming location for the movie “Secret.” Along the way, you can enjoy the beach scenery, algal reef intertidal zones, and plant ecology. Meanwhile, the “Jinshan Wanli Cycling Path” is lined with lush green trees, and when you’re tired, you can rest at Shuiwei Fishing Port and admire the renowned “Shuiwei Moonlight,” one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Jinshan.

Shezi Island Loop and Ershong Flood Diversion Channel Cycling Path
Shezi Island is located at the confluence of the Keelung River and the Tamsui River, where rice fields and vegetable gardens can be seen everywhere, showcasing the simple and beautiful scenery of an old rural village. The area has built cycling paths on the top of the levees, attracting many cycling enthusiasts. At the Shezi Island sandbar, you can witness the powerful convergence of the Keelung and Tamsui Rivers. When the sun sets, the golden afterglow spills across the river surface, sparkling beautifully. Looking into the distance, the continuous ranges of Datun Mountain and Guanyin Mountain create an incredibly picturesque scene.

Rainbow Riverside Park
Taipei’s Rainbow Riverside Park is located between the Zhongshan Expressway and Mai-shuai Bridge 1 along the Keelung River. Cycling along the riverside with the breeze is comfortable and pleasant. Additionally, it’s a great spot for plane watching and flower viewing. Every January and February, large fields of golden sunflowers bloom in the park, creating a picturesque scene against the lush green grass. Moreover, Rainbow Riverside connects to the bustling Raohe Night Market, making it perfect for a relaxing day trip.
