Morton’s Steakhouse
Morton’s Steakhouse, which officially opened on December 28, is likely the last new steakhouse to debut in Taipei in 2015. This American steakhouse emphasizes a classic all-American style—all beef is imported from the U.S. The ordering system is à la carte, with no set meals or minimum spend. Customers can freely mix and match appetizers, desserts, main courses, and steaks, or even visit just for dessert.

The steaks at Morton’s Taipei are sourced from its exclusive supplier, featuring top-tier dry-aged grain-fed beef. Wet-aged for 23 to 28 days to enhance tenderness and flavor, the restaurant also offers fresh fish, premium shrimp, and crab to cater to diverse tastes. All steaks are USDA PRIME grade. Highlights include oversized options such as the 48-ounce (1300g) Delmonico steak, 20-ounce (550g) New York strip, and 16-ounce (450g) ribeye.

Just Grill
The first off-site steakhouse under the Regent Taipei hotel group, Just Grill, opened on October 16. To carve out a niche in the competitive Xinyi dining scene, it offers a salad bar tailored to female diners and shareable plates designed for 2–3 people, including gourmet platters, tomahawks, and bone-in ribeye ribs. The most affordable option is an NT$880 weekday lunch set.

To stand out in the crowded steakhouse hub, Just Grill emphasizes four key strengths: first, five-star quality at great value; second, being the only steakhouse with a salad bar and menu/service details tailored to women; third, promoting a New American Steakhouse sharing concept with shareable plates, tomahawks, and bone-in ribs for 2–3 people; fourth, rotating six signature sauces to pair with steaks, turning condiments into a highlight.

Top Cap Steakhouse
Dubbed Taiwan’s “Steak Godfather,” Chef Deng You-kuei, who popularized gourmet steaks in Taiwan, took on a new challenge in 2015 by opening Top Cap Steakhouse at Taipei’s Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A4. The restaurant’s signature Porterhouse lets diners enjoy two distinct cuts—filet mignon and New York strip—in one steak. Deng noted that eating gourmet steaks exclusively can get boring, so trying new flavors is essential.

Top Cap Steakhouse’s steaks follow the Manhattan-style approach, with a focus on the 28-day dry-aged Porterhouse. This bone-in cut combines the tender juiciness of filet mignon and the hearty chew of New York strip. When asked about the difference between a Porterhouse and a typical T-bone, Deng explained: T-bones usually have more filet mignon and less New York strip, while the Porterhouse is the opposite.

Lawry’s Ribeye Restaurant
Established in Beverly Hills, USA, in 1938, Lawry’s specializes in premium ribeye steaks. It arrived in Taipei’s Xinyi District in 2002. Known for its tender, juicy beef, Lawry’s slow-roasts whole USDA Prime ribeye, preserving its natural sweetness. The “Lawry’s thick-cut bone-in ribeye” is particularly notable for its roasted bone aroma. Beyond steaks, Lawry’s has expanded its menu in recent years with seasonal dishes like autumn’s Boston lobster trio, classic Australian Wagyu braised beef tongue, and sous-vide lamb filet with lamb patties to cater to diverse preferences.
