Zi La. Personal. Spicy
As introduced on Zi La. Personal. Spicy’s Facebook page: “A spicy hot pot experience that's easy and enjoyable even for one.” The broth here is made with an authentic Sichuan base sauce. For the Sichuan base, they use a variety of genuine herbs, soak them in 58% sorghum liquor and hot water, and add Yongchuan fermented black beans and Pixian premium red oil douban sauce. They also make their own chili paste, which is stir-fried over controlled heat for nearly four hours to create this aromatic and flavorful spicy hot pot.

Hong Jiu Jiu Personal Spicy Hot Pot

Who says you can’t enjoy spicy hot pot alone? Hong Jiu Jiu offers a personal dining option, so you can enjoy spicy hot pot by yourself. The broth is simmered with 20 types of Chinese herbs and green Sichuan peppercorns, giving it a strong numbing and spicy flavor, though it’s not too oily or overly hot. However, since green Sichuan peppercorns and herbs can become bitter if boiled too long over high heat, the shop recommends turning the flame down to low after bringing it to a boil.

Lao Xian Jue Spicy Claypot Hot Pot
Lao Xian Jue is a popular local brand offering affordable personal hot pot experiences, and their signature spicy claypot hot pot is known for being richly spicy, fragrant, and smooth on the palate. They were the first to introduce a personal double-flavor hot pot, allowing solo diners to enjoy two different broths at the same time. The spicy broth at Lao Xian Jue is made with Chef Gao Huangshun’s commitment to authentic Sichuan-style spice — blending traditional Chinese herbal medicine principles to ensure it’s flavorful without being overly harsh or heating. The broth is first stir-fried, matured, and slow-cooked, then further refined through proprietary techniques to enhance its stability and flavor consistency.
