No need to go all the way to Holland to see tulips ! The Houli Zhongshe Sightseeing Flower Market in Taichung has shipped in 200,000 tulips of over 50 varieties from overseas, including single-petal, double-petal, solid-color, and bi-color types. This year, they’ve also specially introduced the rare ice cream tulips. However, since tulips have a short blooming period, the varieties on display change every week, and the tulip season will continue until mid-March.

The tulip season at Zhongshe Flower Market in Houli District is entering its 12th year this year, with 15 varieties making their first appearance. Chen Yuexiang, an employee at Zhongshe Flower Market, said that tulips have a short blooming period, and depending on the variety, the growth and flowering times vary. At 15°C, each tulip typically blooms for about 10 days, but at 20°C, they’ll wither after just 7 days. Therefore, the tulips in the park are changed weekly, so visitors will see different scenery and tulip varieties each time they come. In addition, the farm has specially imported the rarely seen ice cream tulips this year, which will bloom around February. Visitors should be sure to plan their flower-viewing trip accordingly.
