The Dapeng Bay Bridge Opening Show Now Only on Saturdays; Qingzhou Coastal Recreation Area Near the Bridge Free to Enter

The Dapeng Bay Cross-Sea Bridge Opening Show, which once attracted nearly 10,000 visitors a day, offers a spectacular view of the bridge deck opening under the sunset, whether you’re by the bridge or on it. However, starting in 2016 (105 in Taiwan’s calendar), the show changed from twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays toonly on Saturdays, but the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration has introduced a special offer,allowing free entry to the nearby Qingzhou Coastal Recreation Area within half an hour before or after the show..

Considering factors such as manpower and funding, the Dapeng Bay Administration reduced the twice-weekend bridge shows to once, with shows now taking place every Saturday at 4:30 p.m. until the end of February. The schedule remains daily during extended holidays.

The Dapeng Bay Administration stated that except during the Lunar New Year holiday, visitors can enter for free within 30 minutes before or after the show until the end of June this year. In addition to Kenting’s White Sand Bay, Dapeng Bay features the unique Black Sand Bay of southern Taiwan, and the park also offers various water activity facilities.

The 579-meter-long cross-sea bridge, which opened in 2011 (Year 100 in Taiwan’s calendar), is 30 meters wide. Viewed from the front, it resembles a mythical roc holding an object; from the side, it looks like a sailing ship’s sail; and from the back, it appears like the letter “A.” The movable section of the bridge opens unidirectionally at a 75-degree angle, spanning 20 meters, and takes just two minutes to rise or lower. The sail-shaped bridge is also illuminated with light sculptures every evening.
