New Taipei’s Sunshine Bridge and Crescent Moon Bridge Flower Season: A 25,000-Plant Riverfront Park Bloom

To welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year, the New Taipei City Government has planted ornamental flowers at recreational spots such as Sunshine Bridge, Crescent Moon Bridge, and Bali Old Banyan Fort, aiming to ring in the Year of the Monkey together with the public. The city government stated that the riverfront park flower season is expected to last until after the Lunar New Year.

Last year, New Taipei City was hit multiple times by typhoons such as Soudelor, causing damage to the Xindian River basin. However, the fertile soil washed down from upstream during the storms enriched the riverbank flats, resulting in this year's vibrant sea of cosmos in the area under Sunshine Bridge.Nearly 1 hectare of cosmosThanks to the nutrient-rich soil, has blossomed into an exceptionally splendid floral display.

Meanwhile, Bali Old Banyan Fort and Crescent Moon Bridge have been planted with 25,000 ornamental plants— specially selected for their red, pink, and gold hues, including salvia and crabapple flowers, to match the festive atmosphere of the New Year and add cheer to the riverside scenery.

The New Taipei City Government reminds everyone to enjoy and take photos of the beautiful flower sea while also taking care of the plants, so this lovely sight can be preserved for future visitors to enjoy.
