Okinawa hairstylist Nakama Takuya gives free haircuts on the street: Taiwanese people are so cute, always smiling

A haircut champion from Okinawa, Japan, appeared today (18th) on the streets of Taichung’s Zhongzheng District, offering “free haircuts,” attracting many passersby. This well-known hairstylist from Okinawa, Nakama Takuya, is in Taiwan for the first time to conduct haircut training. Nakama Takuya said he was very excited, and the Taiwanese people responded warmly in return.

“I’m Nakama Takuya, a hairstylist from Japan. I can cut your hair—don’t worry, it’s free.” With a simple signboard by his feet, a chair, and scissors in hand, Nakama Takuya, a hairstylist from Okinawa, gave haircuts to Taiwanese people right on the street. Many pedestrians were surprised to see a Japanese person cutting hair on the sidewalk: “It feels really thoughtful, thanks for being so friendly, Japanese people.”

Nakama Takuya is a renowned hairstylist from Okinawa who won a competition championship in 2010. This time, he visited Taiwan along with his calligrapher friend soyamax. While soyamax held an exhibition, Nakama Takuya initiated free street haircuts as part of his stylist training. The free haircut event lasted only one day, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., during which he gave over 20 haircuts. Nakama Takuya said, “Taiwanese people are really nice, they keep smiling and smiling—it made me feel very warm.”
