Pudding Dog Restaurant finally opens officially – Matcha Pudding is an exclusive item for Taiwan store

The Pudding Dog Restaurant, hugely popular in Japan, has finally made its debut in Taiwan. Last year, themed restaurants were all the rage in Taiwan—from Toshidama to KITTY hot pot and even Rilakkuma-themed eateries—but this year it’s Pudding Dog leading the way. The Taiwan branch is a direct operation by Japan’s Creation Food Company. Most of the menu items are the same as those in Japan, but the Taiwan location exclusively offers a limited-edition Matcha Pudding. With its subtle green tea aroma, it's bound to attract green tea enthusiasts.

Following the interior design concept of the Japanese Pudding Dog Restaurant, the Taiwan branch also adopts a warm, adorable style to create a cozy and comforting space where visitors can rediscover their childlike joy. Inside, guests will find Pudding Dog and his friends everywhere, along with a specially designed kimono-clad version of Pudding Dog tailored for Taiwan—his cute and playful appearance is sure to make everyone want to snap a selfie with him.

Among the food offerings, recommended dishes include the super-cute Mexican Rice (NT$360), Neapolitan Tomato Pasta (NT$380), Ultimate Pancake Tower (NT$350), Creamy Egg Pasta with Bacon and Mushrooms (NT$380), Coconut Chicken Curry Rice (NT$330), Happy Picnic Platter (NT$360), Russian-style Beef Stew Rice (NT$330), and Caramel Banana Pancake (NT$300). In Japan, the most popular dish is the Creamy Egg Pasta with Bacon and Mushrooms—mainly because diners get a free Pudding Dog-shaped cup with it. In Taiwan, the first 50 customers who order this dish each day will also receive a free Pudding Dog-shaped cup. The Mexican Rice is the second most popular item. To match Pudding Dog’s yellow color theme, turmeric is used to turn the rice yellow. The texture is slightly wetter and stickier to help it hold its shape—be sure to scoop the rice together with the tomato-based meat sauce underneath when eating.

For desserts, “Call Me Pudding Dog” (aka the Pudding) is another fan favorite. Lin Kuo-Ching, General Manager of Creation Food Taiwan, explained that the Pudding Dog Restaurant’s puddings are made with only eggs and milk—no added water—for a pure, rich flavor. The Matcha Pudding, however, is exclusive to Taiwan. Lin noted that aside from the Matcha Pudding, all other menu items are also available in Japan. Future updates will be made seasonally to offer Taiwanese customers even more variety.
