Hail falls at Lalashan in Taoyuan — children gleefully have snowball fights in the sacred tree area

The weather is really cold！ As a cold air mass hits Taiwan, temperatures in the Lalashan mountain area of Taoyuan continue to drop. This morning (January 23), due to sufficient moisture, hail fell in the sacred tree area, turning the woods and trails into a silver-white wonderland. Many children and adults alike happily built snowmen with crushed ice, had snowball fights, and looked forward to seeing actual snowfall.

Since the evening of the 22nd, many travelers have been heading up to Lalashan to wait for snowfall. However, according to data from the Taoyuan City Tourism Bureau, there has so far only been light rain and accumulated hail, with no reports of actual snowfall yet. Despite wet and slippery roads caused by rain and melting ice, the public’s enthusiasm for enjoying the hail remains undiminished. The Taoyuan City Scenic Area Administration also provided footage of the real-time situation in the sacred tree area and of people having snowball fights. Numerous adorable little snowmen can be seen on the handrails of the wooden boardwalks, allowing the public to share their excitement.
