The 9-day Lunar New Year holiday is approaching. To celebrate the New Year, tourist operators across Taiwan have launched various promotional packages for the Year of the Monkey.In Tainan, seven leisure farms and resorts are also offering special Spring Festival activities and discounts.Travelers planning to visit Tainan during the holidays can consider adding these recreational spots to their itinerary beyond just enjoying the local cuisine.

1. Zoumalai Farm
From now until February 29, the “Graffiti Horse Town Spring Fun” event is being held, featuring a unique, approximately five-story-tall giant straw horse sculpture, along with a colorful series of activities allowing children to engage in painting. Other highlights include a foreign artists’ street performance, a cool makeup artist show, a bizarre fruit and vegetable carving competition, and a limited-time vegetable-picking countryside experience.

2. Xianhu Leisure Farm
Looking for a journey that combines stories with scenery during the Spring Festival? Xianhu Leisure Farm offers accommodation packages, one of the highlights being a rural storytelling activity. It features tales such as the “Bong-Bang Culture” of mutual aid and cooperation in agricultural society, and the “Dongshan Welcoming the Buddha” story, shared with guests to relive the warm festive atmosphere of the past.

3. Jianshanpi Jiangnan Resort
From February 8 to 11, Jianshanpi Jiangnan Resort is holding its first “Snow Play Jiangnan – Japanese Culture Festival.” Visitors can wear kimonos and carry paper umbrellas to experience Jiangnan-style Japanese culture and enjoy an authentic Japanese ambiance. Additionally, from now until February 29, there’s a “Monkey Zodiac Free Admission” promotion—those born in the Year of the Monkey can enter the resort free of charge. During the Spring Festival, visitors who check in at the resort will also receive a mysterious small gift, limited to one per person.

4. Dakeng Leisure Farm
From now until March 10, the "Mountain Spring Orchid Festival" is being held, transforming the entire farm into Taiwan’s first leisure farm featuring multiple orchid-themed elements and landscape designs. The event incorporates orchid-inspired visuals, cypress wood lantern installation art exhibitions, and interactive balloon prince shows. There will also be live music performances where visitors can enjoy the melodies while soaking in the mountain spring water during the cold winter.

5. Nanyuan Garden Leisure Farm
During the Lunar New Year, the farm offers activities such as “Fortune-Bringing Cup Toss for Free Accommodation Vouchers,” “Check-in for Spring Walk & Lucky Draw,” “International Costume Experience,” and DIY events. Visitors can take photos in six floral areas and join the “Red Envelope Grab Bag.” Additionally, a renowned performing arts troupe will present family-friendly, clown street parades, magic, and musical performances—two shows daily at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

6. Wushantou Reservoir Scenic Area
From February 8 to February 14 during the Lunar New Year holiday, there will be two spectacular magic shows daily at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, each lasting 90 minutes. There will also be Magic School and Magic Challenge activities where visitors can become magicians and participate in obstacle games, earning a beautiful souvenir upon completion—limited quantity available, while supplies last.

7. Xinhua National Botanical Garden
During the Spring Festival event period, the “2016 Spring Forest Love” activity is launched. From February 8 to 22, the full-price admission ticket is only NT$100, and the half-price ticket is NT$80. In addition, there are fun and interesting treasure hunt activities in the park. Moreover, visitors who enter the park from February 8 to 12 can visit the popular 168 Happy Farm strawberry garden for free upon presenting their ticket stub, and also enjoy free samples of delicious strawberries!
