Taiwan Railways adds 172 extra services during 228 Holiday transport period; ticket booking opens from 00:00 on February 12

To accommodate passenger demand during the “228 Holiday,” Taiwan Railways Administration will operate a total of 172 additional train services across all service levels from Friday, February 26 (2016) to Tuesday, March 1 (2016), spanning five days. Advance tickets will be available for online and phone bookings starting at 00:00 on February 12.

Taiwan Railways stated that during the 228 Holiday period, a total of 172 additional services will be operated across the entire network, including 67 Tze-Chiang Limited Express services, 32 Chu-Kuang Express services, and 27 Fu-Hsing Semi-Express and Local Train services (a total of 126 services) on the Eastern Line (including the South-Link Line); and 20 Tze-Chiang Limited Express services and 26 Chu-Kuang Express services (a total of 46 services) on the Western Line.

Tickets for these services will go on sale via online and phone booking channels starting at 00:00 on Friday, February 12, and can be purchased for travel up to and including March 1.

In addition, to enhance transport capacity between Taipei and Yilan, Taiwan Railways will add six pairs of numbered local express trains between Shulin and Luodong daily from February 27 to 29, totaling 18 services (with a special fare of NT$100 available). On February 26 and 29, four services of the new Tze-Chiang Limited Express between Shulin and Taitung with open seating (Carriages 7 and 8) will also be operated. The public is welcome to make use of these services.
