400th Anniversary of Shakespeare's Death: The First Folio Tour Across the U.S.

According to Lonely Planet,there are numerous commemorative events to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of literary giant William Shakespeare. Among them, Shakespeare’s The First Folio will tour all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico — something truly worth looking forward to!

This folio, originally published in 1623, is expected to make waves across the United States. The tour will include stops at art museums, universities, libraries, and historical societies, among others.

But why is The First Folio so important? Because it is the first complete collection of Shakespeare’s plays, published seven years after his death. These 36 works were compiled and edited by two of Shakespeare’s fellow actors. In fact, not all of his plays had been published during his lifetime.

Without The First Folio, the history of art and literature might have lost much of its luster — as beloved works such as Macbeth and Twelfth Night might not have survived to this day.
