Hash browns are a very common dish in Europe and America. They’re not difficult to make and come in many variations, but one thing never changes — their crispy texture and the unique starchy flavor of potatoes. Tomorrow morning, skip the fast food joint. You can easily whip up some delicious, unbeatable hash browns at home in just a few minutes.
Ingredients (for 1 serving)
1 potato
a pinch of salt
a pinch of black pepper
1 egg (optional)
a little flour (optional)
Instructions:
1. First, grate the potato and then squeeze out the moisture with your hands. (Tip 1)

2. Add salt, black pepper, egg (optional), and flour (optional), then mix everything evenly. (Tips 2 & 3)

3. Next, heat some oil in a pan, spread the potato mixture flat, and fry until golden and crispy. Done.

Tips
1. After grating the potato, be sure to squeeze out all the moisture. Too much water will prevent the hash browns from getting crispy.
2. The earliest versions of hash browns didn’t include eggs or flour, but over time, methods evolved. Nowadays, various recipes still have their fans, so feel free to adjust the amount of eggs and flour to your liking.
3. Once grated, the potato will oxidize and change color when exposed to air, so make and eat them fresh to enjoy the best color, aroma, and flavor.
This method for making hash browns is super simple. If I remember correctly, a hash brown shop in Montreal sells something very similar, and there’s always a huge line every day.
It seems that simple yet delicious foods are loved everywhere. Why not give it a try yourself?

P.S. I don’t know why, but my photos came out looking very tropical — haha.
