This winter, a cold snap hit Taiwan, causing a severe shortage of electric heaters across the island. Many people might be thinking of picking up a heater during their holiday trip to Japan and bringing it back to Taiwan. However, travelers should be aware that due to flight safety concerns, “kerosene heaters” may not be allowed on board!

Sincekerosene heaters are tested before leaving the factory, there may be residual fuel or fuel vapors inside. Therefore, airlines have the right to refuse to carry kerosene heaters as checked baggage.TakingEVA Air’s official website as an example, it clearly specifies that flammable items such as gasoline, diesel, and other fuel oils, as well as kerosene (including kerosene heaters), are prohibited on board.TransAsia Airwaysalso stated that, in consideration of flight safety, kerosene heaters cannot be checked in as baggage. Therefore, it is recommended that passengers confirm whether various home appliances can be brought on board before purchasing them.
