Hidden gems in the corner—A forest-themed café near Mitsui Outlet!

Because the mall I originally planned to visit had postponed its opening, I unexpectedly stumbled upon Forest Café. It opens early, so you can enjoy brunch right away—I think that’s great because many cafés don’t open until the afternoon, which makes it tricky to grab coffee in the morning. But at Forest Café, no worries!

Located not far from the Linkou Interchange on Minzu Road, there’s paid parking right at the entrance—20 NT per hour is quite affordable, so driving here is worry-free. In anticipation of the upcoming New Year, the café has decorated with festive flags, showcasing its unique and stylish New Year setup.

In front of the counter, you’ll find a coffee machine and an ice fridge displaying items. However, the cakes on display are just models—the real, fresh ones will be served to your table.

Every little corner of the café is adorned with cute plush toys and collectibles, and there’s even a signed photo of Xia Yu Tong on the shelf. Kids would probably love it here too.

The first floor has two sets of sofa seating where you can stay as long as you like. It’s a relaxing spot to enjoy breakfast and coffee.

Besides simple brunch options, they also serve full meals, and they look pretty good too. Breakfast includes plenty of egg dishes, but since I visited unexpectedly and had already eaten, I’ll save those for my next visit. There are also toast options and paninis, plus pancakes that are only available in the afternoon. The ingredients are clearly labeled, making it easy to choose. Aside from coffee, there are plenty of caffeine-free options like juices and milk.

When you order, a staff member will come to your table to help you choose, and you’ll get a receipt to confirm your order. They also provide the Wi-Fi password—it’s all very convenient.

The seats by the window are bright, and you can watch passersby while sitting there. There are lots of little potted plants decorating the window area.

These shelves hold Business Weekly magazines, and other utensils or cups are self-serve.

Toffee Coffee $90, Latte (add $30 for a set meal)

Visiting Forest Café, you might get lucky and receive latte art—usually done in this style. There are options for medium and large sizes; I ordered a medium, which was actually quite big. I went for the toffee flavor, which I don’t usually drink—it was sweet and perfect for me. If you’re not into sweet flavors, you can go for the regular latte. Some corners of the café are great for photos, like the view from inside looking out the entrance—it’s a special spot.

Chicken Club Panini $220

Since my friend hadn’t eaten yet, I ordered a panini. The bread is pressed with a waffle iron, leaving a grid pattern. I had freshly fried golden fries with a crispy skin—bonus points for the tasty Thai spicy sauce that cut through the richness. It was delicious when hot.

Apple Pie $80

I spotted an apple pie in the dessert case. It’s made in a style similar to German pudding, different from traditional country-style pies. When served, it’s already cut into quarters, revealing the apple filling underneath. The texture is smooth like German pudding, and the portion is quite hearty. I ate two pieces and took the rest home. Anita thought it was delicious and kept asking where I got it—uh, Mommy’s just sneaking out for a bit, don’t ask so many questions...

No service charge is added, and there’s free Wi-Fi with unlimited time. The food is great—it’s exactly the kind of café I’d love. I’ll definitely come back for brunch another time!
