The 2016 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Arts Festival started on the 10th along the Love River and continued for 13 exciting days. In addition to over 30 large-scale creative lantern installations and more than 100 traditional lanterns adorning the Love River banks, there were daily spectacular fireworks and water dance shows.And the super eye-catching 12-meter 3D spiral slidewas specially imported from Germany, becoming the highlight of this year’s festival..

This year’s lantern festival featured the themes of Kaohsiung Bear and Kaohsiung Monkey, with five lantern zones and hundreds of lanterns competing in beauty, plus landscape art installations designed around the concept of the “Four Seasons,” adding a romantic touch to the Love River area.

Notably, the 12-meter-tall “3D Spiral Slide” imported from Germanyhas been open for use since February 8th. Visitors can not only enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the dazzling sea of lights but also experience the thrill of a high-speed descent. The slide is open daily from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM during the festival period.Each ride costs 80 NTD.

In addition, the “Mass Lantern Parade” held on February 20th featured elaborately decorated floats, domestic and international performance troupes, and the public joining together to parade with lanterns, lighting up the streets of Kaohsiung.On that day, “Kaohsiung Monkey”-shaped mini lanterns will also be given out at designated spots—super adorable.
