Established in San Francisco in 1948, Shuangsheng Western Restaurant was introduced to Taiwan by the Heshimeng Group 31 years ago. Recently, it was announced that the Ren’ai branch will cease operations after February 15, sparking a wave of returning customers. For longtime Taipei residents, the Ren’ai branch of Shuangsheng holds shared memories, especially its ice cream, beloved by many.

Shuangsheng ice cream insists on using imported premium fresh milk, fresh cream, and carefully selected natural ingredients, without artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. Its flavor is natural, and its texture is rich and smooth. Unlike most imported ice creams, which are produced abroad and then imported, Shuangsheng ensures that its ice cream is manufactured and remains effective within one month, all to preserve the freshest taste and flavor. Shuangsheng’s ice cream comes in over 195 varieties, and to this day, they are still made semi-manually. In addition to being served in stores, it is also supplied to the staff cafeterias of many companies, including TSMC and HTC. Even 7-Eleven and Costco Taiwan have approached Heshimeng for collaboration. However, as ice cream production technology becomes more advanced, while handmade methods carry tradition and warmth, machine production can precisely control every ingredient and process. In the future, Heshimeng plans to build a central factory for Shuangsheng ice cream.

Popular ice cream flavors include Chocolate Chip Cookie, Taro, Brandy Poire Cherry, Casablanca, Premium Chocolate, and Treasure Island. The Chocolate Chip Cookie flavor features vanilla ice cream rich in milk aroma, mixed with Osmile chocolate chip cookies. Its delicate texture interweaves the flavor of chocolate and the crunch of cookies, making it a favorite among children. The Taro flavor uses locally sourced Taiwanese ingredients, specifically premium Jiaxian taro, and its production process is much more complex than other flavors. Yet, you can taste the taro grains and rich aroma, making it a long-standing bestseller and distinctly different from typical imported brands.

In addition to sundaes, Shuangsheng also offers a variety of authentic American cuisine, recognized for both quality and price, including American deluxe burgers, traditional American breakfasts, various steaks, and more. The coffee is made with aromatic Italian Lavazza beans.
