Free to admire works by Picasso and Dalí！Stockholm museums now open to the public for free

Since September 2015, the Swedish government has allocated a budget to increase the number of free museums available to the public. In February this year, these venues began offering free entry one after another. For tourists, this is truly great news. For example, the Moderna Museet’s permanent exhibitions are definitely worth seeing, featuring works by Picasso, Dalí, and many artists from the Scandinavian Peninsula.

According toLonely Planet,the following museums are currently free:

Swedish Air Force Museum (Flygvapenmuseum)
Hallwyl Museum
Swedish History Museum
Royal Coin Cabinet
Royal Armoury
Naval Museum in Karlskrona
Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities
Moderna Museet
Nationalmuseum
Swedish Museum of Natural History
Maritime Museum
Skokloster Castle
Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design
Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg
Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities

However, the famous Vasa Museum still charges an admission fee and remains the most popular museum on the Scandinavian Peninsula.
