The Lantern Festival is approaching, and lantern festivals are springing up all over Taiwan. TheCentral Taiwan Lantern Festivalin Taichung this year is divided into three major lantern zones, and has also partnered with the internationally renowned brand Paul Frank. Not only are there over a hundred intricately designed lantern displays, but the limited-edition mini lanterns given out daily are also adorable Paul Frank designs. From the 17th, an artistic lantern festival feast in Central Taiwan will unfold over 13 days.

The Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau stated that the Central Taiwan Lantern Festival is divided into three major lantern zones: Taichung Park, the Qingshui Port Art Center, and the Fongyuan Huludun Park. Themed around the Monkey Year and inspired by the classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West," the festival showcases hundreds of lanterns in both Chinese and Western styles.

Each of the three lantern zones has its own unique features. This year, the Taichung Tourism Bureau has specially collaborated with the well-known brand Paul Frank to create dozens of Paul Frank-themed lanterns in the Taichung Park and Qingshui Port Art Center zones. The main lanterns in these two zones are also designed in the image of “Paul Frank as the Monkey King.” Visitors can also enjoy water screen shows or boat rides to view the lanterns. Meanwhile, the Fongyuan Huludun Park lantern zone adopts a classical Chinese style, presenting key scenes from the novel "Journey to the West" through various lantern displays, offering visitors a distinctive lantern sea experience.

The "2016 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival" runs from the 17th to the 29th, with limited-edition Paul Frank mini lanterns being distributed daily starting on the 18th until the 22nd.
