The Chi Museum of Arts has transformed into the most beautiful sea of lights. Since 2013, the Chi Mei Pu-Chen Cultural and Artistic Foundation has launched the “Hope Lights Up” campaign, calling on tens of thousands of local residents, visitors, and neighbors to participate in this act of love by adopting and personally creating lamp cups. Through the warmth of every brushstroke, they lit up a sea of heartwarming lights at the Chi Museum of Arts, with twinkling stars among the treetops warming the entire Caotun Boulevard.

▲ People write their hopes on the lamps, wishing for them to come true.

The Chi Museum of Arts has turned into a giant “Hope Power Station,” using 5,000 lamps to form a dazzling sea of lights. Through the warmth and love actions of the public, it generates a current of hope, becoming a source of warmth for winter. Visitors from all over who come to light lamps and pray for blessings have shown creative ingenuity, making all kinds of unique wishes for their loved ones and themselves — such as “I want to make a childish wish: that we will never be apart,” “If you see this lamp, will you marry me?” “Taichung and Tainan are united as one, let’s cheer together!” and “I hope Mom will let me keep a puppy.” They all hope for a chance of fulfillment.

▲ Green lights shine in all directions, turning the main lounge area into a green-light forest, as if stepping into a technological era.

The main lounge is where the currents of the entire area converge. Laser beams are used to create layers of penetration between space and architecture — confined within the space yet seemingly unconstrained by it. The interwoven green rays are like a green-light forest emerging in the pitch-black night, shining brightly across the starry sky. On the second floor of the Painter’s House, there is also the “MIX 365 Adoption Plan,” which presents the feeling of mixed-breed animals longing for a home through artwork. By having the public purchase these pieces, donations are made to animal protection associations, hoping to give animals a better life.

▲ With green lines radiating in all directions, the Chi Museum of Arts at night gains an air of mystery, and beauty bursts forth from that very mystery.

In the first two years of this campaign, nearly NT$440,000 was raised and donated to the “Taiwan Painting and Talking Association.” As of this year, a total of 5,000 Hope Lamps have been created, with the donation amount accumulating to NT$690,000. These funds will be used to support children with physical and mental disabilities, helping them learn through art therapy and giving them more opportunities to move toward independent living through their own works. During the Lantern Festival, why not come and experience the charm of the sea of lights and feel the hopeful spirit of the festival?
