Airport MRT Beimen A1 Station Completed: Offers Check-in and Baggage Check Services!

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Taiwan High Speed Rail Bureau announced on the 23rd that construction of the Taipei Main Station A1 Station of the Airport MRT line has been completed. The A1 Station intersects with the High-Speed Rail, Taiwan Railways, the MRT Tamsui-Xinyi Line, Ban-Nan Line, Songshan Line, and intercity bus services. Once operational, it will become a key gateway for international travelers entering and exiting Taipei City.

The A1 Station has its platform level on the third basement, the concourse level on the second basement, and the first basement not only features the station hall but also houses the check-in service area, car pick-up and drop-off zone, and taxi waiting area. Additionally, underground passageways on the east and west sides connect to the Taiwan High Speed Rail / TRA Taipei Station and the Taipei MRT Beimen Station to facilitate transfers to other public transport. The ground level serves as the main entrance and exit. Currently, the station’s building construction has been completed. As for the mechanical and electrical systems installed by the Taiwan High Speed Rail Bureau within the station (including the automatic fare collection system, baggage handling system, flight information system, etc.), these have also been substantially completed.

The Airport MRT Taipei Main Station also offers check-in and baggage check services. Passengers can check in their luggage and select seats early at the station, obtain their boarding passes, complete baggage security screening and check-in procedures, and then continue sightseeing or conducting business in the city before taking the Airport MRT or other transport to Taoyuan International Airport for their flights, adding greater convenience for both domestic and international travelers.

Currently, the pre-check-in and baggage check equipment, including check-in counters, baggage conveyors, baggage cabinet conveyance equipment, and baggage lockers, have all been handed over to Taoyuan International Airport Corporation for takeover and pre-operational training, drills, and other preparatory work. In addition, to enhance service quality, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation will install self-service check-in kiosks and intelligent self-service baggage drop devices (BAG DROP) to provide more diverse passenger service facilities and reduce check-in time.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Taiwan High Speed Rail Bureau stated that system integration testing for the entire Airport MRT line is nearing completion, although average speed, travel time, and headway requirements set by the contract are still being improved upon by the contractors.
