1. Osaka Castle Park
Built during the Warring States period by the famed shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the Kansai region’s “Osaka Castle” takes on an even more majestic appearance when springtime cherry blossoms add splashes of pink to its white walls and green tiles. The most famous area is the Nishinomaru Garden, which also features fiery red autumn leaves and vibrant azaleas in summer. 2. Mint Bureau
Known as the “No. 1 Cherry Blossom Avenue in Kansai,” the Mint Bureau is normally closed to the public but opens for just 7 days each year during cherry blossom season. The site features an unusually rich variety of over 117 types of cherry blossoms, making it an excellent spot with great value. 3. Sakuranomiya Park
Located north of Osaka Castle along the eastern bank of the Okawa River, Sakuranomiya is home to the well-known Sakuranomiya Park. Stretching 4.2 kilometers along the riverside and planted with around 4,500 cherry trees, the park features rows of blossoms extending from Tenma Bridge all the way to Sakuranomiya Bridge. Visitors can stroll along the river or take a water bus for a unique view of the cherry blossoms from the water.

4. Mount Mayuyama Park
With approximately 35,000 cherry trees, Mount Mayuyama reaches peak bloom in early April when the entire hillside turns a soft shade of pink. It’s a highly recommended spot for cherry blossom viewing. The area includes five hiking trails and is conveniently located near hospitals and other facilities. It’s also adjacent to the Osaka Museum of History.

5. Hattori Ryokuchi Park
As Osaka Prefecture’s largest park, Hattori Ryokuchi offers an unforgettable cherry blossom experience. The park features various nostalgic buildings that seem to transport you back in time. Osaka Expo '70 Commemorative Park was transformed from the site of the 1970 Osaka World Expo after the exhibition period ended. The best place to see cherry blossoms in the park is the “Cherry Blossom Tunnel” along East Avenue. If you’re lucky enough to catch the sakura snowfall moment, the pinkish-white petals flutter in the wind like snow, creating a dreamy, fairy-tale-like scene.

7. Hamadera Park
Osaka’s Hamadera Park is famous for its pine forest, where about 1,200 cherry blossom trees are planted. The pale pink Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms set against the lush green pines create an elegant and enchanting view. In front of the rose garden at the center of the park, there are over 300 cherry trees, along with wide lawns and a plaza at the central entrance—perfect for hosting cherry blossom viewing parties and other events.

8. Osaka Water Bus Aqua Liner
The most unique way to enjoy cherry blossoms in Osaka is by taking the Aqua Liner water bus, which offers picturesque views of the poetic cherry blossoms surrounding Nakanoshima Island from the river. The route passes by landmarks such as the Imperial Hotel and the Japan Mint, earning it the nickname “a walk on the water.” In spring, when cherry blossoms adorn the riverbanks, the area is often crowded with blossom viewers. There are four boarding points for the water bus: Yodoyabashi Pier, OAP Pier, Osaka Castle Pier, and Yahataya-hama Ferry Landing, with departures every hour.
