We originally planned to have afternoon tea at Shuangjiang Tea House, but when my friend spotted Shuangyu Hall nearby, we spontaneously decided to grab a meal first before heading for lemon black tea. In the end, we overate again—visiting Taichung always leaves us wonderfully full, thanks to friends. Plus, it’s an all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant with no time limit. Trying out two places in one go isn’t bad at all.

Located at a street corner, there are paid parking spaces along the roadside, and if you can’t find any, there’s also a paid parking lot in the alley. Even before stepping inside, you’ll spot features in major newspapers and magazines. Then, take a look at these delicious dishes—even if you weren’t hungry before, you’ll suddenly feel starving… Let’s quickly see what tasty offerings await~

They offer both set meals and à la carte options, with a minimum spend of NT$50 per person—ordering just one dish meets the requirement, so no problem there. Even on regular weekdays, the place sees quite a crowd, with every seat filled during mealtimes. Business is booming.

Braised Pork with Fragrant Bamboo Shoots – NT$160
One advantage of dining at Shuangyu Hall is that the portions aren’t too large. Even if you’re dining alone and want the braised pork, you can order it—the portion size is just right. Of course, you can also order several dishes to share with friends.

Thai Spicy Chicken Rice – NT$135
At this price point, it’s easy to see why the place does well—the set includes a main dish, sides, rice, and even a drink. It’s really great value, especially since a typical bento box can cost nearly NT$100. They also offer a comfortable indoor dining environment. The main dish comes in a generous portion, which we shared among us.

Black Tea & Green Tea
Ordering a set meal comes with a choice of either black tea or green tea as a beverage, and you can even select the sweetness level. For a side drink, it’s pretty good.

Stir-Fried Greens – NT$75
After ordering so much meat, it’s only right to balance it out with some greens. The stir-fried cabbage was nice and crispy.

Fried Tofu – NT$60
Even though we had just finished eating stinky tofu, seeing the fried tofu still tempted us to order it. The tofu had a delightfully crispy exterior, and the inside was wonderfully tender. The spicy garlic sauce on top paired perfectly with rice.

Sesame Oil Chicken – NT$170
A friend said the weather was cold, so we opted for sesame oil chicken. Soon, the fragrant pot arrived. The sesame oil aroma was rich but not overpowering—the taste was lovely.

Hong Kong-Style Turnip Cake – NT$50
I’m a big fan of Hong Kong-style turnip cake, so I eagerly requested it as soon as I saw it. However, this version leans more toward a Taiwanese style, topped with a garlic soy sauce.

Braised Beef Pot – NT$200
A friend highly recommended the braised beef pot here, and I thought it would be similar to hot pot slices, so I ordered it. The flavor is very homestyle—just like the braised beef I make at home—but with a bit of spice. Pouring the broth over rice is delicious.

The set also comes with three side dishes, and the portion of greens is quite generous. I think it’s important to eat more vegetables when dining out, which can be tricky. No wonder Shuangyu Hall is so crowded during mealtimes—the prices are only slightly higher than a bento shop, but you get a comfortable dining environment. It’s great for business meals or catching up with friends.
